But I had to fix the final 5%

You are right. That pointy grille in person looks just a bit off. Better than in photos but still not quite there.

Lots of Mazda6 in their front end, splashed with Volvo. Not complaining just saying things.

Yeah, the pointy grille really sticks out as the least successful part of the design. Don’t get why grilles have suddenly become so difficult for automakers.

Yeah I just see Superman or something.

I don’t get why they’re sticking to the faux grill sensor thing. It’s barely visible in that pic but looks horrible in real life and is a real mess on the current G70.

Yeah I think mount the plate over that part and it will improve it.

OMG... I just made the same comment on another blog MOMENTS ago...
The superman grille is still a bit odd, but better here than previously. Almost all the other surfacing is really nicely done.
Really, IMHO, the whole front end is well done, other than the trademark shield grille. If this car’s grille had a flat bottom just above the lower intake, rather than the point at the bottom of the grille. All else the same, it would be quite handsome.
The headlights are incredible, but the tail lights let it down slightly, because the edges aren’t parallel like the headlights are.
T he headlights are an interesting graphic for parallel lines.
The LEDs are inboard toward each other, highlighting the parallel aspect, but the corners are rounded, not severely sharp, and flush fitted to some compound curves in the bodywork.
It would be interesting to see them lit up as headlights... projectors, or a series of reflex LED elements?
The interior is clean and sleek. Maybe a bit too simple, but I’d rather err that direction than overstyled.
If I were into sedans anymore... I would seriously look at this car in a compelling color.
A personal luxury-GT coupe like this with a sleek, beautiful roofline, and maybe a fastback liftback like a V8 Vantage or Jag XK8... could be MUCH more interesting to me than a Lexus RC.

This is not the best rendering, and clearly some genesis traits laid on a Ferrari Roma...
The detailing and surfacing of the actual G70 sedan is better, but the proportions and low hoodline, sleek roofline, and other GT coupe traits...
It conveys the beginning of an idea. Quite a good idea. An attainable alternative to the quarter-mil Roma would be fantastic.

The Roma is hot garbage, and that render looks like trash too.

Yes the way the ate mounts takes away from the effect it produces. Looks like an upside down Hershey's Kiss.

The render is not as smooth as the G70 sedan, that is true. I was just using it as a rough idea starter.
The Genesis Essentia Concept is amazing, but nowhere near production.
But I am going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there, on the Ferrari Roma. The best Ferrari of the modern era, and among the greatest front engine GT cars in recent memory.
Aston Martin used to be the benchmark, but the new Vantage/DB11/DBS is over-styled and cartoonish compared to the previous Vantage V8, DB9/Virage/Vanquish (2014-era) which were gorgeous cars.
When Aston took a step down, Ferrari took a step up.
I am intrigued on how we can agree on the G70 Genesis, and disagree on the Roma... when I see both cars as good examples of reasonably clean, graceful, and not-overstyled design. A good mix if proportion, organic compound curves, and a few nicely defining lines.
I would classify things like Ferrari 812 to be overstyled... and things like the Hyundai Elantra and current Lexus models ( other than LC) to be things that I would call a hot mess.

It’s all good. The original got many details wrong. This if nothing else banishes/improves most of the fails.

Yep. One the of rare cars that actually is improved by having a front license plate holder, so long as it is mounted over the pointy part.

Looks great. I could live with the pointy.
